Online Help Samples

Below are links to examples of online help systems that I've created. These are divided by help system type, then by project. Due to storage space constraints and privacy agreements, this selection is limited. Should you wish to see more work, please contact me for a meeting.

Web Application Help

Private Capital Automation System (v 1.0) - This online help system was created for a web applicaiton that facilitate the trading of private equity. This version of the system was created for the "Master User". Development plans called for this guide to be available to seperate user types.

Desktop Application Help

NDC Dental Online Help - This is a traditional WinHelp system for a 16-bit application. This help system was created from existing documentation to give the application much needed online help. This link takes you to a directory where you can download a Zip file with this help system, or click on the HLP file to view from the server. If you download the Zip file you will only need to unzip the file into a single directory and double-click the HLP file. Because this is for a WinHelp version 3 system, there is no table of contents.

Legacy / Specialty Help

FAS / FROMIS Online Help - This online help system was created for use by financial analysts needing to use a legacy Texaco financial data warehouse. The help system lives on ChevronTexaco intranet and is available for all users visiting the Comptroller's internal web site. The guide is presented as web help and as a PDF for easy printing. For distribution purposes, the PDF was embedded into the help system. See the topic Printable PDF Version in the table of contents. You can also see a copy of the PDF on the Technical Writing Samples page of this site.

NDC Pharmacy System Online Help - This help system was created and customized for use in a non-gui Unix application environment. The HTML for this system had to be very basic, as the browser embedded in the application didn't support many of the standard browser features. With this system I acted as the web and online help designer, working with the application developers to tailor the code.
